KLD stands for 'Korps Luchtwachtdienst' (Air Observation Corps). Its function was to spot low flying airplanes and parachute droppings. This specific bunker operated as a "listeningpost". For these listeningposts a complete network of (new and re-used) towers at the borders of Holland was developed . Later on in 1967, the network with the towers and bunkers was handed over to the BB (Civil Defence) and got a new task; observation and measuring an atomic bombardment and its radiation. This network was stopped in 1980, when the Cold war atomic threat was over. The bunker was handed over in 1986 to the Regional Fire brigade Zeeland.
This location 'Burgh', number 3X 1, served as a S-post (stationary post), in combination with a personnel bunker (4 pers.). This bunker was connected with the central post of the BB in Goes through a special telephone network. The BB bunker in Goes belonged to the A-Kring Zeeland and was located at the 'Fruitlaan'.
