Verteidigungsbereich (VB) Vlissingen, Wn. Carmen, Vlissingen 01.

Near the village Klein Valkenisse you can enter the dunes and woods via the Vroonweg where you can park.

In the wood area are "to find" some several bunkers and two Luftschutzbunkers witch were part of a OT-camp for workers on the Atlanticwall witch was situated in these woods between the bunkers.
The other remaining bunkers are hard or not at all to find because of the very heavy vegetation.

Vlissingen.
Verteidigingsbereich Vlissingen, Stp. Hohenstaufen, Vlissingen 06.

On the 'Boulevard Evertsen', at the coast, lies the only remaining bunker of Stp. Hohenstaufen a 623 Mg. bunker. The bunker is clearly visible at the western end of the boulevard and it has a "wind organ" on the roof.

This 623 machine gun bunker covered the beach and the boulevard of Vlissingen, the bunker is closed but we could peek through the shooting hole; the bunker is flooded but the steel door to the ammunition room is still there.
This bunker is a nice example of a bunker build in "Formsteine", this means that there are pre-fabricated concrete blocks that are placed in a double wall, between the two walls of blocks is space which is filled up with normal concrete. This type of construction means that the bunker is less solid; an advantage is that the construction time of a bunker decreased.
At the boulevard is also remaining and partly visible a "Vf Notbefehlsstelle" (reverse command post) and is situated at the left side of the former Hotel Britannia, that had during the war the command post for Walcheren underneath the hotel.

Vlissingen, West-Souburg

This Stp. Rebhuhn is a special one, because the bunkers belonging to this Stützpunkt are located on two spots and it takes several minutes by car the get to the other one.

In the village West-Souburg, is a buried hospital bunker, type 638. The bunker lies in the middle of the village at a central square called 'Marnixplein'. The bunker is closed and only the roof with the tobruk is visible.

In Vlissingen near West-Souburg at the Rubenslaan is situated the "Batterie Batenburg" that was meant to protected the airport of Vlissingen. It's fire control come from Wn. Leuchtenburg.

Vlissingen
Verteidigungsbereich (VB) Vlissingen, Wn. Leuchtenburg, Vlissingen 011.

The bunker lays at the most southern point of Vlissingen. Follow the 'Oranjedijk" towards the mill (Oranjemolen) on top of the dike. The bunker, a 143 observation bunker, lies at the sea side of the dike in front of the mill. At the 'Commandoweg", 500m to the east is a re-placed KSB located.

The bunker is in use by a local foundation called 'Stichting Bunkerbehoud' (see website); they have opened the bunker for the public and completely restored the bunker into its original state. The museum bunker is a real beauty and worth a visit, they have done an incredible job in restoring it. About the bunker itself, it is a 143 observation bunker with a steel cupola with a periscope. The bunker had a view on the beaches were the Allied forces landed in 1944 during the campaign for the liberation of Holland. The observations were mend for the battery Baskensburg, more inland.

Vlissingen
Verteidigungsbereich (VB) Vlissingen, "Nollebos".

At the south/west side of Vlissingen, in a small forest called 'Nollebos' are some bunker remains. Coming from the west at the 'Burgemeester van Woelderlaan' you can see the forest on your right side, follow a small cycle track into the bush and after 50m take the path to the right across the bridge and the first bunker is on you left hand.

This forest used to be full with bunkers, a bunker village, most of the bunkers have been demolished. The bunker, a Küver type, is hard to find and fully closed. The second Küver bunker is located in the middle of the park on an island and almost invisible with all the leaves and bushes, we shot some pictures but the bunker isn't visible so you will have to take our word for it.

Vlissingen.
Verteidigungsbereich Vlissingen, Villapark.

Behind the Stp. Hohenstaufen at the boulevard lays a group of bunkers called the "Villapark".

Along the Koudekerkseweg lies a 134 bunker that partly visible. Behind this locations at the Julianalaan and the Burgemeester van Woelderenlaan are the other bunkers, all the bunker are on private property!

Veere, Dishoek.
Verteidigingsbereich Vlissingen, Stp. Fidelio, Vlissingen 02, M.K.B. Knorr.

Start your trip at het square on the corner of Dishoek and Kaapduinseweg and go up the slope of the dunes.
When you have arrived the top the bunkers are situated at you right side, but they are all on prohibited terrain!

On top of the M145 is now a days standing a radar tower to support the sea traffics activities on the Westerschelde.
The bunkers are hard to find in the bushes and that's why we didn't find them all.
Down hill and to find along a small service road is situated a M159 dressing station bunker, but because of a high fence is not possible to see the bunker clearly.
