Den Haag, State of Emergency bunker for the Finance Department and the

This ministry is located somewhere in the centre of The Hague.
The bunker is located underneath the ministry building, its function was to protect the Finance Department and the Prime Minister (PM) and his staff in case of an emergency. The PM has also a place to hide in the bunker of the ministry of Home Affairs. (

The bunker has two floors -1 and -2 and is about 2000 m2 in total. The bunker was built in the 70ties, together with the construction of the ministry complex. The complex was dismantled during the make over of the building between 2005-2007.
The bunker is equipped with a water, electricity and air-system to function for at least 14 days. Some rooms have an internal emergency exit. Emergency exits to the outside of the bunker are going in several directions. The entrance of the bunker is made in a secure lock form with several heavy-protected doors, a decontamination shower and a dump for contaminated clothing and things.
Two canteens had to provide drinks and food for the staff and there is also a first-aid and a sick-room on site. Near the big conference room for the cabinet members, there is also the room for the PM in combination with a television studio, where the PM could speak to the people if necessary. The building was suitable for 200 persons to stay inside for at least 14 days, with food, water, clothes, sleeping stuff and other supplies available inside the bunker.
