Ste-Marie de Ré, La Noue.

This small location is nearby St Marie, in a little town called Les Grenettes a few km before Ste-Marie de Ré along the D.201. In the village, find a way to the beach and the bunker is clearly visible, hanging on the edge of the dunes.

The only St. bunker at this location is a double 612 casemate for a 7,5cm gun. There has been a mg post attached to the front of the 612. Today that mg post has fallen off and is now lying on its top, on the beach. The bunker can't be entered because it is in the dunes and you are really not supposed to walk there, so respect that. In the back of the dunes there are some supporting bunkers for personnel and ammunition. We have seen some bits and pieces of them, but we don't have pictures.

Ste-Marie de Ré.

The battery is located south/west of the town Ste-Marie de Ré. Follow a small road around the village and drive to the coast. One of the emplacements is clearly visible next to the road and a parking-place. Most of the bunkers are on private property so ask for permission.

The battery has four emplacements for a 7,5cm gun and several supporting bunkers, a FL246 ammunition bunker, a "Vf Leitstand" bunker and several shelters and barracks. The "Leitstand" and one emplacement are on private property, we had permission to enter the Leitstand, but the emplacement stood in another garden. At the other side of the street, in a field is the large ammunition bunker, type FL246. The bunker is open but is used as a waste-dump and is in a poor condition. There is a nice emplacement for a 7.5cm gun, 200m to the east, but we missed it.
